spring in the house

For about a year and a half i've been thinking about a quilt for my bed being torn between a modern minimalistic or a more romantic flowery one.
... but since we had rain and grey sky for weeks, I finally need something to cheer me up, so girly and fun it has to be. - quite similar to the quilt i've made for my sister.

haha... even after haven taken all fabric needed, it barely left a dent in the pile... hm...no more fabric shopping for me i suppose. ; )
all cut and marked... let's sew.
half way there... all squares sewn, cut, corners trimmed & ironed... now it's time to sit on the floor and to play with the layout : )
the next step might need a while... will keep posting about the progress!

in the meantime ... if you fancy some quilt browsing... there are some sites with pretty cool projects.
Handmade by Alissa - modern quilt inspiration - also have a look at her book 'Modern Minimal'!

oh, Fransson! - by Elizabeth Harman
red pepper quilts - color color color....
film in the fridge -  great source for inspiration ... & nice tutorials!

happy crafting!

snack o'clock

rain... rain... rain... more rain, hail, storm, thunder... rain... grey sky!
so...  let's start the summer indoors!...
...and since i spent the weekend by myself  just a simple summer crumble for one person... done in no time and almost no cooking... ; )

One person summer crumble...
... a pear and a handful of strawberries & raspberries...

cut, added a spoonful of sugar, topped with some oats and a tiny bit of butter.
... baked until soft...
and added some custard....
 yummy!!!

A&A shawl

It's been a while I began this shawl - actually november last year.
Since I ran out of wool and didn't find much time for knitting anyway, this project was resting for some weeks until i found the right drive to get more yarn and to wrap it all up.

I'll take some more pictures soon, but right now i'm just well excited about this project and just like to share it right away.

Tiny feet

One of my friends recently welcomed little Theodor.
... and as winter seems to wave goodbye but isn't entirely gone I thought some booties and a simple stripy scarf might be a good idea to give as a welcome present.

Docker Booties
For the booties i followed a pattern in "Rowan babies - by Kim Hargreaves". - but i'm sure you can find it in other places as well, as it is quite a classic pattern ....

They are knit flat and top down. So you start with the rib, continue with the back of the foot and make your way down to the sole.
Over all just a perfect shape i find. - And knitting them flat is definitely faster than in the round on a set of needles.

Garter Stitch Scarf by Drops / Garnstudio
To round it up, i've also knit a little garter stitch scarf.
Also done from cotton/wool yarn, so it's going to be warm, but not overly hot - having in mind that spring it's on it's way...

The pattern is quite simple and straight forward to knit. - You can find it for free on the garnstudio website.

so much early morning wool blogging... now off to work : )

Bye Bye NYC

it was time to leave. - just when spring kicked in and one was able to sit in the sun for hours...
the past couple of weeks were lovely - even so there wasn't much time for woolen fun, there was always time for a glass of wine with friends. who could fight that!
...and of course, i had to squeeze in a very last photo... hm. can't wait to be back.

Will try and catch up on the crafty side of things soon... just have to get over the jetlag first ;)
